Energy Mix Screening

Designed for early-stage decision-makers who need to establish clear direction before reaching out to market installers.

What It Includes:

  • Baseline operational challenge and load separation review.
  • Initial structural separation of electrical, critical, and thermal heat loads.
  • Technology-fit framework spanning solar, battery backup, and gas alternatives.

Solar & Backup Power Proposal Audit

A complete engineering stress test of a single solar or inverter/battery quotation before you sign.

What It Includes:

  • Sizing validation against true daily operating patterns and continuous demand spikes.
  • Deep-dive evaluation of battery chemistry, depth of discharge, and real-world cycle-life limits.
  • Recharge window calculation to ensure compliance under consecutive load shedding.

Gas Appliance & Thermal Load Review

For businesses evaluating commercial gas geysers, kitchen retrofits, or hospitality heating systems.

What It Includes:

  • Verification of appliance sizing against actual peak thermal operational demand.
  • Inspection of quote completeness, ventilation, required accessories, and hidden installation costs.
  • Logistics assessment covering gas supply safety, refill frequencies, and true operating costs.

Side-by-Side

Comparative Energy Quote Review

A side-by-side technical and financial comparison when different suppliers have proposed completely different answers.

What It Includes:

  • Apples-to-apples normalization of up to 3 competitive proposals.
  • Identification of artificial overcapitalization, hidden exclusions, or dangerously down-scaled components.
  • Consolidated strategic recommendation mapping out the safest, most cost-effective path.

Our Process

How an Engagement Works

A structured, transparent process from first contact to final advisory report.

01

Initial Briefing

We discuss your current situation, the decisions you face, and the proposals or systems you need evaluated.

02

Data Collection

You share electricity bills, site details, and any quotations received. We assess what additional information is needed.

03

Technical Analysis

We apply our Energy Allocation Framework - load profile, solar & storage suitability, thermal load insulation, hybrid architecture, and lifecycle financial validation.

04

Advisory Report

You receive a clear, written report with independent findings, identified risks, and specific recommendations.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Technical questions about solar system design, battery performance, and our advisory process.

Solar systems must be designed around real electricity demand behaviour, not average consumption. Inverters must support peak power and surge demand. Without measured load profile data, systems are often undersized for critical loads or unnecessarily oversized for the budget.
Many business appliances -- refrigeration compressors, pumps, air conditioning -- require significantly more power during start-up than during normal operation. If inverter surge tolerance is insufficient, the system may trip during load shedding restarts even if the average load appears acceptable.
Battery manufacturers advertise total storage capacity (e.g. 10 kWh). However, most lithium batteries operate at 80-90% depth of discharge to preserve lifespan -- meaning a 10 kWh battery provides approximately 8 kWh usable. Runtime calculations must use usable capacity, not the advertised rating.
Yes. Frequent outages increase battery cycling, which accelerates degradation -- especially with elevated ambient temperatures, deep discharge levels, and inadequate recharge time between outages. Battery lifecycle modelling should account for South African outage patterns.
Payback period is influenced by system capital cost, tariff escalation rates, self-consumption ratio, battery replacement cycles, and system performance degradation. Many proposals present optimistic assumptions that do not fully account for battery replacement timing.
